YouthSpeak! drop-in writing sessions take place every Monday in the basement of the Ottawa Public Library, Main Branch from 5-8PM. If you're 22 and under and would like to attend, feel free to drop by any time. If you are older than 22 and still want to participate, you can sign up to be a volunteer facilitator at email@example.com.
For the first time ever, YouthSpeak will be hosting a Poetry Slam for youth, age 22 and younger. The YouthSpeak writing and performance mentorship will continue ever Monday, with the last Monday of each month reserved for the SLAM. Any youth age 22 and younger are invited to drop-in for the weekly workshop series or compete in the slam or perform in the OPEN MIC portion (non-competitive) at the beginning of the slam. POETRY SLAM is the competitive form of Spoken Word poetry. The YouthSpeak slam series will determine a team of the top 5 youth poets to represent Ottawa at Voices of Today Youth Poetry Festival in 2020. Donations will be accepted to cover travel costs.
